6 - (up from 5 on 2nd view) - For me, a shot of this put into a time capsule would depict a 'way of life' for this year and era for future generations. Criticism; whilst it is definitely more of an artistic shot than a 'depiction', in my opinion, I am wondering if the 'effects' have detracted from the intended 'era' 'capture' for the Challenge, just has more potential to capture the era, in my opinion. I would like to have seen this cropped to cut out that sign(?) on the left near the water's edge, but the scenery to the left of that is nice. As for 'authenticity' on the house(?) to the right of the windmill (ie the roof) I do not know, so perhaps a cropping out of that as well may have made this a better shot (for the Challenge) in my opiniion. I do like the b/w(?) effect though and think it adds to the bygone era 'feel', however, given the seemingly 'simple' colors that would have been here in color, I wonder how that too would have looked. Nice shot.

Wonderful image. SO much for the eye to absorb, yet it's not too busy. I like the soft rounded clouds against the angular lines of the windmill. Well done. 9

A little dark - I like the composition but it would read better if the windmill contrasted more against the sky and you had som true whites in clouds and grass.

Beautiful sky and effect. A little bit dark for my lighting.

Looks really nice. I would have liked a little more definition between the sky and the sails. Other than that, I like it. Having Dutch heritage, the timeframe and subject matter is maybe more important to me than some others. A good fit with the challenge.

Nice shot, perhaps a bit too "neatened".
08/11/2005 08:46:28 AM
woooooooow, amazing effect

Beautiful photo.

Lovely shot. The clouds don't seem real!

Interesting B&W conversion, heavy read filtering (negative blue in the channel mixer)? Almost near infrared on the greens. Great sky, I've been searching for that sky for four days but the crappy weather in our country didn't cooperate. :(

The mood is a bit dark, but I like it a lot. Would have liked to see some sails on the wings, it would bring out the windmill a lot better agains the sky.

Gorgeous. I would have liked a thin frame around this, but even still it's beautiful. One of my favorites - 10!
08/10/2005 01:16:26 PM
Great shot!
08/10/2005 06:52:30 AM
great shot...something about the sky that i can't quite put my finger on....the clouds in the background seem sharper than those in the foreground....and yet your subject (windmill) in the foreground is sharp....
08/10/2005 05:46:21 AM
Lovely shot!

Waauw! This one is great.
only 1 small disturbing thing...... the white sign at the water
But this is my favourite submition!!
08/10/2005 12:55:15 AM
Nice emotive shot. It really feels like a moment in the past. (which it is I suppose but .....)
08/10/2005 12:25:08 AM
little too dark. where the white? with correct exposure this would be pretty solid image.
