I took about 10 pics this afternoon...I had the card rigged up on some very thin thread and everytime I set the self timer on the camera and ran into place, the card would turn the wrong way! Finally, I got something I could work with. I'm very happy with this image and I hope it breaks through the 6 barrier!

POST: Lots....Curves, dodging/burning, tritone with black, orange, and green, crop, and small cloning.

Certainly did break 6 - well done, I voted a 9 on this. I loved the expression on your face plus the composition of the image. Great work

Thanks for all the high votes! I actually did NOT stick the card to my thumb. I used a small thread and lit it so the thread didn't show.

awww, that's too bad, i guess no dinner on you this wednesday then =(. anyways, congrats on another top 10.

The effect here is good and the lighting is satisfying. The idea is clever, however, by using a hanger wire and wrapping a part around your bicep and then you can use hot glue to place the card on the wire and now you can show the complete hand including the thumb. This is just a suggestion because evrything else about this image is great including the intense concentration and eye placement. I like it.

Very well done. I don't normally like sepia toned images, but this one really impressed me. The facial expression and pose are perfect, as is the focus on the card.

Good "illusion" shot and I like the tonal qualities - although the "magician" himself seems a bit scary. Cool photo.

Wonderful expression on his face, and great illusion. I also love the toning (is it duotone?). Great job here....9

This image has so many good things going for it. It is simple, with great composition. The color is perfect and the the exposure of the subject and lack thereof regarding the background is excellent giving this an old world voodoo vibe. The intensity of the subject's gaze is riveting. Best one yet! Great work.

I dig the look of concentration here. The thumb is pulled enough far away from the lens that this trick is pulled off :) Great expressions and lighting.

Be vewy vewy quiet Chris :) Bumping to 8.

His look is priceless. Composition is absolutely excellent ! and along with the low-key toning and high contrast with the card makes this a top notch image. Very well done and high score given.

Great lighting (and good use of shadows), unusual pose/ composition within the frame, wonderful catchlights in the eyes really focus the viewer on the model's concentration and point of focus. Nice duotoning too. Nicely done throughout.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the card is stuck to your/your model's thumb. But aside from not being that hard to figure out (unless it really ISN'T stuck to your/your model's thumb, and it just looks like it, when you actually used fishing line or something) this is a very well done photo. And by that I mean the composition, tones, quality, sharpness, etc. are all very good, so I hope you do well :-)

The illuion is great. I find that I am distracted by the lighting differences between the card and the rest of the image, I would prefer a little more balance in this area

This shot is simply incredible. You have some of the best lighitng I've seen in a challenge entry for a portrait type shot in AGES! Your focus is maybe a touch off, but it works just fine IMHO! Love the tone that you gave it. Hope this does well in the standings! (oops I just jinxed you.)

Hey, did ya try adding just a touch of grain? Might give it even more of a mystical feeling or then again might just ruin it...

I like the lighting in this picture and the selective sepia tone. It is well framed and has visual impact, but I think I've figured out how the illusion was done. The card is taped to the person's thumb. Right?
