I wonder if you had been able to find a way to indicate visually that the device wasn't working? Perhaps if there was a way to include the plug? Maybe have the girl NOT touch the globe? Maybe if she was holding up a plug end or a frayed wire instead?
Wire in mouth?
Just some ideas.
PS. I guess your illusion worked. There were a lot of people who were pretty convinced they knew what was going on here. It is still a bit of an anticlimax though...
I wonder if it makes you feel good that your illusion entry was the only one that actually fooled everyone? |

It's the physics of static electricity. It's not an illusion. From a photographic stand point, as is it's a snapshot which means that there's no way for the viewer to become attached unless they know the model. If the background wasn't cluttered up with school room stuff it might trancend past status of snapshot.

Not so much an illusion....if the generator wasn't in the picture, it might conform to the challenge better, as the view wouldn't be able to figure out why her hair was standing up. |

This picture looks like it belongs on an ad for a science museum! I mean that in a good way!! :) Very creative! |

She should be holding a cord for this one in the other to create a better illusion. |

I love the girls smile it's beautiful and the illusion is great also. I think the background distracts a little. |

ah. yes, the old science project. focusing in on just her hair may have given more mystery to this illusion |

Lovely model, crazy hair! I just wish the focus was a bit more clear, especially on her face. |

OH, I forget the name of the thing she has her hand on. Would have been nice to have that standing straight up in the picture. Very charming child. Background is a nice classroom theme which is fitting, but is a little busy...can barely see her hair standing up. 7 |

This shot has alot of potential. I would suggest a solid backround and cropping in on just the subject's head, having her looking straight forward. You probably didn't have the time to set this one up. Good idea though. |

Great shot. Cute girl! My take on the "illusion" portion. Had you cropped out the electrostatic think her hand is resting on and given the image a more mysterious title, the viewer would be forced to look and figure out just what is going on here. |

The photo is great, but for the illusion, it would've worked well to have her in front of a plain light background to contrast with her hair standing up and then crop her hand on the static conductor. Nice job though! |
