I gave him some pocket change, he said "I thought I was invisible, nobody would look at me, god bless you". I said, "smile" to him and I took his picture.

This is really a nice, natural shot. It makes me want to know more about the subject...especially after reading your notes. Not an "artsy" type shot...just a wonderful, straight-on, personal shot that begs for more information.

See, you have an amazing way of capturing people. I only wish I could do as well. So much of this man's spirit shines out through the photograph.

That is awesome. I love his genuine happiness for that very moment. The contrast is really well done. I try to look someone in the eye whether I give them money, or just a kind look.

Wow, what a rough life. It actually put a tear in my eye. Just a lost soul roaming aimlessly with no purpose. Sad stuff indeed.

Well done photo.

I have to come back to comment again. Can't stop coming back to this photo. You know, anyone who lives in / near a city passes people like this all the time and it's so much easier to just keep walking. Your photo puts the humanity, the helplessness, the grief and also the hope right in our face where before we would not have to face it. Much more than just a photo.

This is what it's all about, isn't it, to get that connection between the photographer, the subject and the viewer. It's a very emotive picture. His eyes are filled with life. And the lines on his face indicate he has done a lot more smiling than frowning.

Based on the comments, you've obviously got to peoples emotions and I think that's what really counts here. This is a great portrait conveying much emotion and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

Really makes you wonder how people land themselves homeless. I know its a matter of a paycheck away for some people. It's probably easier than we think to become homeless. Scary.

I'll pray for him tonight. I don't know his name, but God does.

Lovely photo. He still has some hope in his eyes.

You have truly captured the element of a person's soul.
This is an excellent portrait Bob!

His eyes reflect more than the ambient light.
