It takes a great vision to take a photo at daylight (and a dull daylight at that!) and to see in it potential for create a gem like this. Congrats on a great image and a good finish (could've been higher IMO).

I usually disdain an image where processing dominates subject, but this photograph works well within itself on boh levels. The processing adds moodiness and profundity to the enigmatic subject. Without the fence, this would have been average. As you thoughtfully captured it, I pick it as a ribbon winner.

Sorry for the form-letter type commentary. I’m going to try to give almost everyone at least this breakdown to start. I would be happy to offer a more detailed opinion if you would like, though I don’t consider myself a very knowledgeable photographer.
Here is how I broke down my score for your submission.
Content: 2/4 (Is the subject compelling? Does the choice of content match the challenge?)
Composition: 2/2 (Is the work well balanced and successful?)
Color/Light: 1/2 (Is light and or color used with skill and artistic intent?)
Clarity: 1/2 (Is the picture in focus? Are the elements clear?)

This is way too saturated... It loses the silhouette of the cross into the clouds.
06/18/2005 07:22:19 AM
Great sky. It really adds to the spooky feel of the photo.

Very nice photo. Perhaps the cross should be a little less centered. 8.

great photo, but I find those fence posts a real distraction.....I know you have no control over that.....great sky and just enough light.

Another great eerie sky. The grave adds to its mood. I love the light hitting the metal braces of the fence from the left. Nice!
