update:This was a challenging shoot to say the least. I was sweating like a pig in the Texas sun, and had in mind what I wanted to create for the challenge (which of course wasn't happening), then the guy started reaching for his hardhat and I knew this was it...glad everyone thought so too! : )

Thanks Brooks for making this shot so fab dahling!

I love how even though you do not see the subjects face you still set the tone of the image. This tells a story... very well done.

A 10 from me and one of only 2 that I gave. Well done and congratulations!

edited to add: This has the look of those classic depression-era photos.

Congratulations! Didn't comment when voting, but I gave this a 10 (which I almost never do). The technical attributes are obvious and have been expounded upon. What struck me most was the time and persistence it must have taken to capture such a poignant and candid moment. Great Job.

Congratulations to fellow Austinite! What a wonderful way to depict construction without cranes and the rest... this photo tells a story, and does not advertise construction equipment.

Congratulations on your Blue!

I was in construction for 15 years and this is the best shot yet. I still can't give it a ten because of my bias against construction. Ok - I will give it a 10. It is the best photo.

This image has a really nice "rough and rugged" quality about it emphasized by the monotone treatment. I really like the high contrast, the textures, the composition...I also like that we can't see his face...he's just to tired to sit up straight or even lift his head...nicely done.

Awesome shot, love everything about it, especially the feel to it and the tonal range and there is nothing more I can say except I gave it a 10 and added it to my favorites. Great job as far as I am concerned.

Nearly everything involved in construction is shown in this well-crafted shot! Including the exhaustion from another day of tying rebar. Beautiful work with a high pixel camera and each pixel is used wonderfully. One of my picks to ribbon.

Fotoshootme, this is quite nice. The detail and tonal qualities are very attractive, and I get the sense that your subject is certainly overworked and tired. While I know that the welding helmet is part of his equipment, it is a slightly odd element in the photo. Overall, I expect this shot to place very well.
