I did not "set" this one up. It is a rental the occupant is a single Mom with two kids all are well. The house next door was damaged but still occupied. Everyone got out before the fire was put out except the cat who may have used up a life but was rescued in the end. The photo was sold to the local daily paper where I am a stringer. Crisa i thought they could have moved the car as well. I had to pull over to let the fire truck pass and was shooting the scene before they were set up. The car was not on fire when I got there.

Tells a sad story. Makes me wonder how it started. There's a great triangle composition here (the smoke, the fire, the end of the house). Really balances out the frame.

This is an image that has it's own dialogue without the comments. Good shoot

I like how you were able to get the ole camera out at such an interesting time

"I hate those staged shots"
05/30/2002 08:57:00 PM
bummer.
05/29/2002 05:22:00 PM
oooppss!!!! Great action.

I like this photo of a fire, but felt that since the challenge was about people, the firemen should have been the central focus with the fire in the background. I am drawn to the fire, and the firemen are just in the picture.
05/29/2002 02:07:00 PM
Pretty good. Hope you didn`t start the fire just to get this picture though.
05/29/2002 01:55:00 PM
I really hope you didn't set this up...
05/29/2002 12:08:00 PM
no one thought to move the flipping car?!
05/28/2002 10:11:00 PM
good action shot. i feel sorry for the owners of the garage.
05/28/2002 08:34:00 PM
Good shot. Obviously, there wasn't a lot you could control (angle, distance, etc.) Hope no one was hurt. my only suggestion would be to crop off the building on the left, or make the fireman more of a focal point than the fire (but only since the challenge was people)
05/28/2002 07:30:00 PM
I just hope you didn't burn down your house for the challenge ;)
05/28/2002 05:49:00 PM
How awful! I hope no one was hurt! As this picture began to show up on my computer screen, I hoped it was a fake fire of some kind!
I agree, those guys must be hot in those heavy suits. I hope it all ended okay.
05/28/2002 04:21:00 PM
Wow! I hope nobody got hurt. (You didn't "set this up", did you? just kidding) Sky is a overly bright, washed out. I would give you a higher "people" score, but they are wayyyy offfff centerrrr.
Photo 8 Creativity 8 (opportunistic) People 8 total 8

I guess it was probably difficult to get into a better angle. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the fire fighters.
05/28/2002 03:38:00 PM
I do hope you didnt set your house on fire to get this shot! :)
05/28/2002 12:00:00 PM
Wow!
05/28/2002 10:28:00 AM
hope this isn't your house! "cool" capture.
05/28/2002 07:50:00 AM
Wow - did you set your garage on fire so you had a cool shot for dpchallenge - that's dedication! ;o) Kidding aside, I hope no one got hurt! I like the shot a lot, it is very well framed and executed. However, even though there are people in it, my eyes are not drawn to them, which I would've hoped to see for this challenge.
05/28/2002 05:45:00 AM
Wow, nicely caught. This is definitely the result of people. I think maybe an angle from behind the firefighters would've been more dramatic.
05/28/2002 02:53:00 AM
I really like this shot. I wish the front of the car looked brighter, but an excellent shot and one of my top 10.
05/28/2002 12:52:00 AM
I hope you didnt set your house on fire just to get this.
05/27/2002 08:32:00 PM
Please tell me you didn't set this blaze just to get a good picture!
05/27/2002 08:10:00 PM
This is a powerful photo. It's unfortunate for someone, however. Being in the right place at the right time is nice for a photo like this and I certainly hope that this isn't your home...
05/27/2002 07:20:00 PM
Dramatic shot of some brave _people_. Well done. Hope it wasn't yours. Good work.
05/27/2002 06:37:00 PM
wow that sucks (the fire not the picture)
05/27/2002 02:07:00 PM
omg, that's so intense. im sorry for that family. how did you get to be here? hope you didnt set teh fire to take the pic ; ) .. cant wait to hear the story.
05/27/2002 09:34:00 AM
sweet.
05/27/2002 09:20:00 AM
Good action.
05/27/2002 08:58:00 AM
wow, you must have been at the right place at the right time. Other than the interesting subject this is a well focused photo. I just wish there was more light.
05/27/2002 08:26:00 AM
Nice catch! I hope this wasn't your home... to have been there at the right moment!
05/27/2002 07:04:00 AM
Definitely not staged, hope that wasn't your house, but it looks like they have things under control. Nice shot, but I think it would be better if you had a closer zoom or crop of just the fireman. The car seems to be a bit more of the focus here
05/27/2002 06:33:00 AM
I always have liked "real life" shots more than setup ones. The smoke has real texture to it. I hope that is not your house on fire.
05/27/2002 01:36:00 AM
WOW ! Talk about catching a moment ! This looks like a photo right out of a newspaper. The only critique I would offer is some levels to bright up the shade and color a little caused by the trees.
05/27/2002 01:17:00 AM
setting fire to a house in order to get a great shot, tut, tut:-)
