Thank you. I was fully aware that an extremely shallow DOF macro does not have mass appeal in challenges, but I was very curious how it would do, what comments it would get. Now I know. It's always a bit hard to take when the style is your own favourite, but .... life goes on :) |

WHAAAAAT!? How did this end up down here? Compared to some of the other less interestingly composed flower shots that placed top 30...
Very strange, I agree with e301. Good luck for the future. |

Now this is probably the most underrated shot of the challenge. I have to hand it to you Ursula, you have a great eye. Looking forward to seeing more like these. |

Whilst I didn't believe that this ought to win, I do firmly believe it should have been comfortably top ten - the site seems to be in one of its periods of lacking a real eye. I don't understand it - do people really think that there is anything unintentional in this shot? A shrug of shoulders and a move on to the next subject is all I can recommend - if it's any consolation, I should say that this is the most misunderstood shot in this collection. |

:O Awesome, awesome, awesome! You choice of depth of field is p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Very well lit, too. Marking this very high. |

Challenge: 10 Commend you for going beyond the norm and trying something different and unique.
Composition: 10 Leading line works very well in this shot.
Technical: The soft bokeh effect just looks very charming.
Creativity: 10 This by far is the most unique flower shot I have seen and with the soft focus it makes that much better.
Overall: 10 I really hope to ribbon. I would like to see a soft focus image get top honors. DPC tends to stick to clean and sharp and this really has more to offer. |

very pretty, meets the challenge. This is a good shot but not a great one. I like the sharper focus on the water droplets, but the rest of the blossom is too softly focused for my taste. 5 |

Obscenely shallow DOF but an interesting take on the classic flower shot, nice original spin you've managed to put on an old classic. I like this a lot, 8 from me and good luck!

Interesting. IMO, a closer crop and/or a different color background would have really pushed this over the top for me. |

Very unique. I'm sure the blur was intentional, but I find it very distracting. I'd like to see the original pic. |

Interesting. In my opinion I think the blur is a little much. I see the idea you were going for but it just doesn't captivate me much. |

I find this very interesting, but I think for beauty I would have liked it better if the flower was more clear. |

Assured, effective, quite interesting graphically, slightly different. It's certainly a clever shot - but beautiful? I'm uncertain of such isolation and style imposed on things ... |

I appreciate the artistic intent, but would have liked to have seen more DOF on a macro shot. |

There are many other flowers in this challenge, but this one gets my highest score amongst the flowers. Very nice job blurring the perimeter and forcing the eye to focus on the center of the image where the water droplets reside. Smooth, soothing and enjoyable to view. <8> |

Incredibly short depth of field. Pretty amazing really. I think this image will suffer from the propensity of DPC voters enjoying tack sharp images. Great take on the challenge. 7 |

This is a great shade of yellow but can't see enough of the subject to appreciate it's beauty. |

One of the more effective soft-focus, semi-abstracts I've seen in DPC. It's refreshing to see a flower not represented literally, and the image is quite stunning. Good luck with it! |
