After struggling for more than two hours in attempting to take the perfect picture of tossing coins, I was left with no other option than this!

I am assuming you took the pic with a Canon. Upgrading then? :)

* Greetings from the Critique Club *

First of all, let me say - great shot! Very well composed and the reflections are super. I also understand the frustration behind the scene too - LOL!

A couple of things:
I think it met the challenge beautifully.
You probably want to correct the spelling of the word Fatal in your title.
I would like to see a little more focus around the hammer itself (it seems a bit blurred in spots). This also applies to the left hand side camera strap.
Interesting that I can actually see more of what's being reflected on the camera lens in its reflection on the table. (reflection of reflection...)
I really like the crop and the lines of your composition. Your eye really winds through the entire scene.
The colors and lighting are great. You could probably reduce some of the glare on the hammer.

All in all, a great shot! I don't recall what I gave this shot during the challenge, but I do remember that it scored high. Nice work!

Just my 2 cents...

Jimmy

I don't feel that the image conveys instantly recognizable decision. Good picture though (in the sense of tecnique... I don't like what is about to happen).

Prediction time: 7 comments from canon owners suggesting that the title is incorrect and it's actually the best decision you ever made :) May have been nice with some motion blur on the hammer.

insurance fraud is no way to try and fund the purchase of a Canon... ;)

nice picture, but I am really struggling with most of the pictures in this challenge, as almost all require the words "decision to [x]". This photo is pretty reliant on the title to make it a "decision" (though not as bad as some).

The photo of the Nikon expoloding with the full impat would have made it more interesting! As it is, the hammer appears to have a bit of motion blur, but not enough to carry this off convincingly. I wonder if you could have used a long exposure and flashed the scene 2 or 3 times with the hammer moving, to get a good motion blur?
