i never got to it before because i was suspended but i apologise to those of you who understood the photograph for the mediocrity you have to cope with on this site that is everyone else.
a painfully clear pop culture reference.. the duracell bunny? energizer. christ. and yes, pretentious? its a movie based on a comic book, isnt it? of course the lighting is going to be cliche spooky. how would you feel if a big black dude in leather just told you that your whole life was a lie, etc.
well whatever. i'll get you all good next time. |

| I don't get the title, but that's beside the point. I like the way the shadow on the hand works, but I'm not keen on the background shadow -- perhaps using a secondary light source would help kill that. The color of the hand is also a little... saturated, maybe? (Whether in camera, or post-processed it just seems a little too "pink.") I don't have a battery to compare it too, but the copper band seems a little dark, as well. |

| Not sure how this sticks with the theme. Color and detail of subject is quite good. Just barely enough light to seaparate subject from background. I don't care for the lighting from below. |

| title aside, as a photo, i would not light it directly from beneath front like that. maybe a side light. that big shadow on the wall is distracting, adn the whole thing has a "halloween light shining up in vincent price's face" kind of air. |

| I like the lighting effect around your hand. Without it, this shot wouldn't be that interesting, but it brings the hand and the battery into a stronger focus. How did you do that? Nice play on the challenge topic |

| A friend of mine explained the reference to "The Matrix" to me, otherwise I would never have gotten this photo. I've only seen about half of that movie, and it was just a hollywood imitation of something far more interesting. I understand how that context makes this a photo about 'people' in a clever kind of way, and that hand is really well lit, but it's a bit obscure and seems about as shallow in a pretentious kind of way as the movie did. (Oops, getting a bit nasty... hmm, oh well). Still, I can't rate it low. |
