Holy Pete did you ever get attacked by the "Shallow DOF Haters Club". Ouch.
For the record, the Shallow DOF really, really sells this piece on a level that tack-sharpness across the board never could have. Fading as the flower fades.. Maybe Roxette's title, "Fading Like a Flower"? Anyway, screw the DOF haters.. I dunno what planet they're on, but it's not this one. DPC winners circle may not be good for shallow DOF, but it sure is good for shallow-thinking. |

Looks underexposed ..also a greater dof might help this shot as you want to show all the five stages and not just pick one of them |

I like where you were going with this and I like the composition but the depth of field really hurts you here. The first dandelion is in excellent focus - I wish the 4th one were also. The black background plays nicely with the yellow and really pops. Would like to see a rework with better focus. |

great idea, well composed...I would have loved more depth of field though. |

i think the first three are backwards, otherwise a great photo |

Great concept and nicely executed. It would have been even nicer had you managed to use a smaller aperture opening so that you could have brough all of them into focus. |

this is so creative and I think would have been a winner if the lighting and sharpness worked on some more. 6 |

To fit the title I would have liked these to be in order - first three reversed so bud is first, last two OK. The color is also kinda drab. I think also the white ball could have better served as your in focus subject as it's forms tend to be more interesting. I only comment cause I really like your idea and wished I'd come up withit myself :) |

The fading DOF is what made me not score this a little higher. If the rest of the "evolution" would've been more focused in I would've easily given this an 8. Great concept. Good photo. |

If this was tack sharp,I think it would stand a chance of the winners circle. As it is, it's still a super idea. And who knows, it may end up there anyhow! |

damn interesting comp. It could've been saturated up a bit, but it's very good. |

Just a tad more lighting and I would have given this a 10. Great idea and well executed! A refreshing change from the other flower photos! |

Good idea but seems to lack sharpness. Suggest try using better depth of field settings when taking pics. |

I like this idea a lot, but 1. I would have liked to see this against a background of the sky if possible - the black feels artificial, 2. the lighting is a little dim, and 3. the back ones are out of focus - did you plan it that way b/c I'd have liked them all to be in focus. |
