So my question is - how would this have done without the added blur? Not in the spirit of the site in my view, since I feel that this is the key element of your shot (see the comments).

Congrats on your top 10 finish.

Great swing capture. Bump.

Looks like you were at Augusta! I'm jealous. Really good shot. Were you at #16 on Sunday? :-) That must have been fabulous!
04/17/2005 07:05:25 PM
Nice shot - apart from what looks like some bizarre artificial motion blur. It seems as if his arms the ball and club are all moving in one lateral 90 degree direction while his head is pin sharp. Were you using an ND filter or is it PS? I dunno but I get the feeling that this would have looked better as stopped motion. Would like to see the original as you'd have a great capture of the great man here.

very cool :) would have liked to been there.... nice blur
04/17/2005 05:20:54 PM
very good shot, sharp face - blurred elsewhere... golf is not what I'd call "extreme action" but the photo is great!
04/17/2005 03:57:45 PM
This is really nice..should be in a magazine... very well done.
04/17/2005 12:10:11 PM
Nice seats! Good sports shot, but almost too shallow on the DOF. I think the lack of focus on the arms is a bit of a problem. It may not be the intent-but this ends up feeling less like a natural camera effect and more like overly post processed. Regardless- and excellent photojournalism style shot. 8

you went to the masters??????? lucky bugger
04/16/2005 07:11:04 PM
Great shot, I hope you made some money from selling this shot to the papers.
Well deserved 10
04/16/2005 05:59:24 PM
Excellent composition. I can definitely appreciate the connotation of Extreme Action in his swing. No one gets the club speed that tiger gets.
04/15/2005 09:51:45 PM
Nice job keeping the face in focus. I'm unclear how he managed to hit the ball to above his left shoulder, though :)
04/15/2005 06:43:18 PM
Too cool!!!! Man!!!
04/15/2005 06:16:53 PM

Really like how you've kept Tigers face focused - the rest in motion blur - outstanding! 10

Great shot. You captured the intensity of the golfer in mid swing perfectly. Your use of DOF and slower shutter speed for motion is wonderful and draws the viewer right to intense face. Btw, how did you get Tiger to pose for you? LOL Top three pick from me.

Well done! The motion blur makes it.

highlights are blown out, especially on his shoulders, hard for me to think of golf as extreme; am I supposed to score this higher because I recognize the face? Does that make it a better photograph?

ahhhhh, i like this picture so much. I considered doing a golf shot, but now I am glad i did not, because it would have never compared to this professional quality shot. you must have artificially blurred much of it right? I am very jealous of your experience. history really.

wonder if this will win just because it's tiger woods? nice image but not extreme enough for me

Did you go to the Masters? Lucky, lucky! This must have been taken during a practice round; it is striking and intense. I like seeing the ball flight and his expression as he completes the swing..the blurring of the crowd enhances this shot; as does the motion blur...9

Not the most extreme sports in the world, but still a good shot.

Oh you LUCKY!!!!!!!! Jeeeeeeez. You should get a 1 just because of the jealous factor in you getting to get this shot instead of me!!! (JUST kidding!!!) This is truly aMAZING! I am in awe that you were close enough to get this shot, and get it so expertly! The ball in mid-air just blows me away! Easy 10! If they had 12, I'd give it that!!! It looks like it could be on a magazine cover!!

Great capture! You have cought the movement in the action and at the same time a clear sharpness of his face which is full of great expression. Brilliant!

Verry good photograph but this is not extreme action

Lucky! :-) This is a brilliant shot that really draws the focus right onto Tiger's face. My only critique is that it's a bit too bright, so it would look better with slightly deeper tones. Other than that, this is a great action capture with outstanding composition.

Wow, Tiger Woods in person! Nice shot, too. I like the way his head is still and the rest of him is moving.
