 This is an old abandoned windmill in a village called Great Hazeley in Oxfordshire. Planned an evening trip here after finishing work on a Friday evening. there, but much later than expected, the sun was now much lower in the sky and the chance of a late evening soft light had all but gone really, especially as a big snow storm rolling in just after this was taken.

Not really a study in abandoned building itself, more of a sky shot I know, but that's the fault of taking the battery out of my cam bag to re-charge!!!

Thanks to everybody that left comments and voted. I didn't honestly think this would end with such a high score (picked up by most that it really didn't emphasise 'abandoned').

It was a fantastic evening when I shot, the freak passing clouds dumped a load of snow on me whilst sitting in a wind swept field. It had been a lovely day to this point, I went up there with little more than a t-shirt, then this cold front swept in!

Some other shots I managed to gat that evening....

Amazing picture, I would have prefered though a closer look to the windmill so I could appreciate the textures and details of the building

Wow nice shot!..I like how the sun is shining through the cloudes it looks neat and the windmeal in drak but it looks cool. nice shot!

I like the wide-aspect crop used and the timing of catching the rays.

i believe that the wind mill is old but i can't see how old it is. but I am giving you a 9 because the photo is extremely, incredibly and greatly beautiful

Nice colors, wonderfull view, the intended subject (abandoned buildings) is however not attracting the attention.

Beautiful shot of the sunset... wish the windmill was a little more prominent tho. I like that it's sharp enough thtat you can see the struts on the vanes.

Beautiful shot, but to me it is relying too much on the incredible sunset, rather than the colors and textures of the building itself.
