Interesting, lots of nice comments, yet a very average score. This was one of my very favorite shots. I gave it a <9>. Great cropping, great action, great idea, it all works for me. Sorry you didn't finish much higher. Should have been in the top 5! Very nicely done.

Focus is a bit soft, but good "action" shot!

I love this photo! I feel bad for the little girl, as the next frame probably includes tears... Great shot!

Effective - I can feel myself flinching at the impact ;-)

(And shouldn't she have pads on her elbows too?) The exposure and colour presentation of this let it down for me - it's a neat enough exposure, but it lacks contrast and sense of placement of your subject, compositionally. It could do with more contrast, and perhaps without colour altogether, to put it more into the photographic world as opposed to the family-snapshot world. Lartigue shot many such scenes from his own youth, but with that sense of location, and grace of development that you don't have here, and which for me make his photographs enduringly viewable.

AHHHH... I remember those years. Great photo in action. So instead of helping her you took the picture.... I would have done the same thing. :)

Ouch! Hope she wasn't hurt. Almost everyone of us would remember some of the falls. Great timing. Just a bit more depth of field would have worked nicely for this one.

great image , nice angle and good use of cropping, would have been great if the challenge was for advanced editing as a bit of motion blur would work a treat, overall an exciting image ( hope no one got hurt in the process? ) :0) 9

ouch!

You should be there to catch, not capture the moment!! but a good capture in any event. action shot! Maybe not enough "beginning" without the title, though.

Very nice... I think it meets the challenge, hope shie is ok... I also like the angle of the sidewalk it divides the space of the picture nicely... also like how you can see the skid marks from the skates... I wasnt goin to vote for any in this challenge but when i saw this photo i had to comment... 8

Not sure how this correlates with "In the Beginning..." Otherwise, it's a really cool photo!

OOF! Glad to see she's wearing the right protective gear. It's a really great capture. The soft lighting helps us to see the subjects face, but otherwise it makes much of the photo feel flat.
