This was the first idea that came to mind, and I think it came out relatively close to my first image. Thanks to my friend Amanda who was my lovely hand model.

Shot in JPEG mode.

Photoshop 7.0
Converted to Greyscale.
Contrast increased.
Used curves and levels to add additional contrast.

Nice approach to the challenge. I like the large cup of coffee on the table. I think the light is a bit too strong on the models hand and arm.

Simple, yet GREAT! When I look at it there is nothing that I would change, but it's missing the sense of "wow" that I need in order to give a perfect score, but 9 is still good.
