Although I don't understand how the clouds could be so much lighter just around the top section of the cross, this is an outstanding photo -- great concept and visual impact.

I would also love to see the original. I may be too much of a skeptic, but the halo around the top of the cross looks 100% post.

If I'm wrong can somebody please explain how to do that? It looks amazing and I would love to learn how to capture something like that naturally.

I didn't get to vote on this picture, but rest assured I'd have given it an 11 if that were possible! Fantastic! I love the halo around the stone too, how did you do that?

What a delightful image - beautifully lit. I think the post processing has added great impact. For me, I feel that the gravestones would benefit from a bit of contrast and cleaning up, as it seems that we are wallowing in a dirty environment, whereas hopefully we are in a heavenly environment after death. Thinking more deeply, the treatment has successfully contrasted the darkness of this world with the glory of the heavenly, shown by the brightness of the sun. I love the light rays, and would be most interested to see the first image as it was captured.

I am just buying a new digicam, and wonder if I should have bought one of these, as I am most impressed with the picture.

Every success to the photographer, who I am sure will go far

To my jugdement, photographic integrity is maintained. My purpose was to enhance textures and contrasts already present in the original image. I didn't even use sharpen filters or masks of any kind.

Incredible. I don't know how you did it, but the light you captured here is amazing. I edited your original file, and I agree, the processing you did here is minimal. Added to favorites.

Very nice, main area of attention looks photoshopped - hope it isn't though as it would be DQ'ed - either way still a top notch pic. Thumbnail does it no justice.

Would like to see original?

Congrats on your blue. The best photos in this challenge in my estimation were the vertical layouts (portrait not landscape) emphasizing the relationship between the earthly and heavenly realms. Your photo beautifully portrays the glory of the realm beyond earth, emanating from the cross: excellence in both technical photography and theology. Thanks for this wonder!

What outstanding light. I very much like the choice of composition, don't know if I'm too much on the "glow" around the headstone... perhaps done a litte less strongly?

Very powerful image Probably would have been even more effective to have cropped out -- or more of -- the base. A little too much dead space in the lower left hand corner for me! In any case, excelent shot!

03/31/2005 10:58:07 AM
This is beautifully composed and presented. whether photoshopped to de-saturate the lower third and emphasize the sky formation i can't tell, but doesnt matter to me cuz its a very balanced image. If you did I can't tell which shows skill in not over-doing it. either way great work!
