Challenge: Self-Portrait III (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Location: Powder Room, Montreal, Qc
Date: Feb 13, 2005
Aperture: F 5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/3 sec
Galleries: Humorous, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Feb 13, 2005

For the last few weeks, every time I went to wash my hands in our powder room, I looked down at the faucet, and saw this strange reflection. I said to myself that this would be cool, but if only there was an appropriate challenge topic. Then Wham! Self portrait. But how would I pull it off, without the camera showing. Black shirt + black (read BADASS) camera = invisible camera. Tada!

Used my 28-135 IS @ 100mm. On tripod. Used a desk lamp on floor to light my face and bathroom light above as well. I leaned over tha camera, and put my hands on the sink. Voila! No camera.

Is PS7: crop, contrast, saturation, dark outer edge, USM.

Farrah Faucet is a member? White balance seems to be slightly off, but otherwise an interesting twist on a self portrait (even if it is a stretch).

what an interesting take on the challenge. you have done an excellent job here. the lighting, focus, composition--they all come together to make the image work. i don't know how i would react to comments about it being 'busy', though. i think i would just accept it for what it is. good luck!
