I guess the tags from the boards don't work in comments. Those links are //www.digitaldreamco.com/index.shtml for Digital Dream and //homepage.mac.com/amphian for my website.

The camera is real, although the viewfinder is almost completely useless. It takes 20 high resolution (352 x 288) or 80 low resolution (174 x 142) photos, or movies (without sound) of about 4 seconds (high resolution) or 8 seconds (low resolution). It connects to the computer via a USB cable, and you can either download through the software provided or a Photoshop plug-in, which also works in Elements. It can be used as a web cam on Macs, but I don’t think that feature works on Windows. It has 2MB of internal memory and runs on a AAA battery or power from the USB cable.

My British father bought it for “40 quid”, which would be about $65 for those of us in the US. The company that makes is it is Digital Dream. Some unedited pictures from the camera are on my website.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. The photo does look a bit dark on Windows. I spent about an hour trying to get rid of the hot spot on the upper left part of the camera without making the rest of photo even darker. The surface is the top of a small stand that I pulled away from the wall. I stuck a piece of black matt board against the wall behind the stand and clipped a 60 watt clip light to the front of the stand, on the left side of the photo. I didn't have a light of the right intensity to light the side of the camera, so I held a hand mirror to reflect light as I took the photo.

Excellent lighting. Great job emphasizing size. This photo really messes with my mind. I look at the camera, then I look at the key, and, without fail, I've overestimated the size of the camera in my mind.

Great shot to show the camera's true size. Nice lighting, and a perfect background.
05/12/2002 06:13:00 PM
I want one! Very sharp image that sells the product.

05/09/2002 09:19:00 PM
Great focus and composition. You made it look easy!

I really liked this picture: the compostion, the lighting, the contrasts, everything. I also found it extremely humorous. does it work?
05/09/2002 02:19:00 PM
Cute. Is it really that small? I like the reflection on the table.
05/09/2002 01:59:00 PM

05/07/2002 11:19:00 PM
there are about 50 things I could say about how cool I think this photo is. I bet you've already heard them all several times. no suggestions for enhancements. I think it is about perfect.
05/07/2002 07:47:00 PM
beautiful composition, placement of the key gives it a great sense of scale, it's so nice that it makes me wish badly that there was not a hot spot on tle upper left corner of the product, then it would be perfect!
05/07/2002 04:29:00 PM

05/07/2002 05:13:00 AM
gee that's a huge key {g}. Seriously tho ... this is a very well taken and thought out photo. Good use of lighting and reflection, and we can see exactly what the main selling point for the l'espion is.
05/06/2002 11:32:00 PM

05/06/2002 02:24:00 PM
This is well executed... The lighting and general composition of this photograph is excellent. I don't have any complaints or suggestions for improvement. The key does an excellent job of showing the size of this compact camera. Nice job!

05/06/2002 12:14:00 PM
