increased contrast may have helped.

Delightful self-portrait and nice use of negative space (the wood boards just really add to this mood). I like the grayscale/B&W photo, only think I wish is that your eyes were more in focus, kind of like your shirt. Good Luck.

Too shallow DOF. Looks like the focus is on the left eye, and because the DOF is too shallow the right eye is a little softer. Not sure what your aperture was set at, but if you setting up a tad, that should take care of the soft right eye.

Returning for comment:
Very nice and pleasing angle and very good background. While i would have prefered sharper eyes, the image remains strong and appealing. Bumping up.

I wish you hadn't called it "Inner demons", because I keep sneaking back for another look, wondering what they are. None of my business, is what they are. Anyway, it is a very compelling portrait with a really effective composition. It has a rather stark feeling to it, but with that title I guess it was meant to. 7.

Wow, I was just thinking about how all of these self portraits are much too serious and melodramatic...I mean, they're good, but nobody seems to be lighthearted. When I saw the title 'inner demons' I thought "oh no, another one". But this is different. It looks real and genuine. The composition is great. The focus on the eyes is a bit too soft for my taste, but otherwise this is a fantastic photo that I fear might be underrated in the voting. We'll see...I know that I like it.
