Last minute idea and shooting. Set the camera up and focused on a flower in the rear. Set the shutter based on the exposure of the flowers. Hovered over the flowers and thought of something that makes me saddened and in pain...it is the same thing every time though it has been almost 11 years. The tears are water dabbed on my face cause I just don't cry much about it anymore, but the pain is still there. The positioning and tightness of the shot were to have repesented my being over a grave as symbolized by the flowers. Also my shooting area is more geared to still lifes and macro/small set ups. This set was a result of that as well.
Post: PSP one step photo fix. PS elements 2.0, crop, resize, USM.
Could be better but I set the shutter on the timer at 2 seconds and while holding a reflector with the same hand. Guess I need an assistant.Maybe, someday. Well I tried....don't bash too hard, but I expect it just the same. Thanks.

Nice framing. Interesting juxtaposition of imperfection and anguish versus simplistic beauty of flowers.

Guys who look like this are always cast as dumb petty officials - sergeants, sheriffs, and so on. And we are conditioned to believe them incapable of tenderness or pain. Ordinarily this conditioning is so strong that seeing is not believing. Yet in this case the expression of grief seems pretty convincing.

Technically, the photo seems just about ideally realized. The man's face and the flowers express almost all of the full range of values from white to dark gray, leaving just the right gap between the shadows of the subject and the background. Lighting and focus are perfect. This could be the best of the bunch.

(I would have edited out that little pin prick of light halfway between forehead and alstroemeria petal. And I find two or three eyebrow hairs just a little distracting; but these are the merest of trifling quibbles.)

Well done, I am not even what you would call an amuture, shutter bug maybe.
But I do like what you have done here. Clear, Detailed and black and white captures the mood.

Feelings of sadness look genuine, like the grayscale, nicely framed, excellent job.

Well done. The flowers look so delicate, the model's expression so real, the lighting so well placed.

Beautiful shot, but the focus seems to be more on the flowers thant the face. Otherwise, could have been perfect.

Strong image. Might be a little too close-cropped. Feels crowded.
