The title is admittedly a neologism, but one that seems fitting for this image. The transition into fall around here brings out my inner naturalist.
*** AFTER ROLLOVER ***
I figured this one might do all right. I didn't expect it to perform this well! It has the distinction of being (I'm like 99% certain) the first image I've ever submitted here to score nothing lower than a 6 in voting. Thanks guys!
The bird in question, for reference, is really common around here, but really striking. It's called a scissor-tailed flycatcher, and this one appears to be a juvenile. The adults have REALLY long tails that "scissor" open in a dramatic way in flight. They're gorgeous to watch. This one was captured from the window of my car while passing at just about eye level through a particular pasture area that I happen to know looks amazing first thing in the morning when the sun is just cresting the woods you see in the background. Got lucky finding these little guys perching on some of the taller reed grasses near an area that was recently shredded.

Oh, Roz, you make me laugh at that. Believe it or not, if someone asked me how I learned to process like this I would immediately say I have spent a LOT of time studying the light alchemy of a couple Aussie ladies whose work I deeply admire. :-D
mutual admiration .. bring it on ..!!..
but seriously .. its not just your editing that I admire.. its also your ability to capture those fleeting moments .. where you capture life and emotion ..

I love this! The beautiful little bird (unknown to me) is so perfectly poised and placed against the background and the warmth of colour is lovely. 9 from me.
and btw .. i had to look up neologism ..
so thankyou .. i've learnt a new word ..
for anyone else who who pops by and was wondering i'll make it easy for them .. !! ..
"A neologism is a newly formed word, expression, phrase, or a new meaning assigned to an existing word that is in the process of gaining popularity or acceptance into a language."
whimsical and emotive . i dont know how you do it .. its like you make something out of nothing ... of course that's not strictly true as nothing is nothing . but i'm hoping you get the idea ..
