My first challenge with a new Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens and Manfrotto tripod! So what the Dickens was I thinking? I used this corkscrew in the Design & Engineering challenge to suggest a figure with head and arms, but it also makes a nice face upside down. ;-)

Setup: I placed a bottle of wine in a metallic purple gift bag with tassles and hung the corkscrew upside down from the cork with a rubber band. The background is a sheet of gray pearlescent paper, with natural window light reflected off pink and green fluorescent paper. I partially blocked the light to create dark "eyebrows" above the eyes.

Processing:. Shadow/Highlight filter to even out the exposure, USM, cloned out some imperfections on the "face," added a slight saturation boost, and burned in the "eyebrows" and neon green on the bottom right corner. Despite all the little tweaks, the final image is pretty close to the original.

I was torn between cropping tight to just show the face (a square), and showing more of the bottle for context. I ended up with a compromise that suggests a hat.
