A friend told me about a really cool rookery. I was able to go just two times, and it was incredible! This shot was minimally edited -- just some contrast and straightening and cropping. The osprey was rather upset when the egret got too close.
I was really looking forward to going back again, and then he called me.
"They're gone"
"??"
"The birds are gone".
There was an eagle that kept harassing them, and they got tired of it and completely abandoned the rookery and the nests they were building. I'm really hoping there were no eggs yet. :(

This is amazing! I can not believe the in-depth study of these birds you have accomplished. This and many other of your images are incredible shots and so well presented the beauty in your images blows me away and each is a treat to view. Congratulations, on this and the whole series of birds you have dedicated your time in bringing to an art in your photography.
What Roz and Bob said. This loaded and I thought, "Only Wendy or Larry could capture this in a single exposure. I bet this isn't even Extended Editing."
WOW WOW WOW .. !!!! ..
this is insane Wendy ..
i did wonder if it was two photos as capturing this in one shot i felt would be almost an impossibility ..
you have proved me wrong ..
once again I'm blown away by your incredible photographic genius ..
many congratulations on the blue .. so well deserved .. xx ..
Bird photographing is so frustrating and yet so rewarding. You have caught a wonderful moment here. Yes the birds are turning away from you and the greenery snuck in at an odd angle, but still lovely.
