I've been memorizing poems to say when I have trouble getting to sleep - better than any soporific and kind of fun. One of the most difficult, despite its starting out very easy and being quite short, was Emily Dickinson's "A Bird Came Down the Walk". The ending goes like this:
" . . . And he unrolled his feathers
And rowed him softer home—
Than Oars divide the Ocean,
Too silver for a seam—
Or Butterflies, off Banks of Noon
Leap, plashless as they swim."
You have given the final metaphor visual reality for me.
Lovely, delicate, perfect. Congratulations on the shared blue. |
