They don't make 'em like they used to. Hard to believe there was ever this much steel in the chassis of a truck. This particular rust bucket is part of a curated collection of dilapidated all-steel classic vehicles in the yard of an outdoor retail plaza in a rural town near Austin.

Good question. I'm not sure I have a great answer. I did have the benefit of the distressed windshield to help me in making some adjustments to obscure the background details of the building in front of the vehicle. And I do remember trying a few things with the driver-side window, but I was never quite satisfied with the result. I think the building was just too close that I couldn't find a convincing edit that didn't look "fake" in my butterfingers. In retrospect, the way I think I would have preferred to try capturing this would have been to get more distance from the subject and shoot at it with a zoom lens; that might have helped create some bokeh out that window. Of course, that might have also caused me to lose some detail in the frame of the rear window. I'm still learning a lot about DOF in these sorts of compositions! :-P

Coming back around to comment. Yes. This is a great metal subject. But why didn't you blur out the drivers door window area?
