This is a south american tree boa. Not the most friendly snake. my friend has about 30 snakes, this is just one of the most photogenic.

A very cool composition with almost a sinister undertone. 7

I think it would be better to slightly raise the camera angle so you can see more of the snakes head. I like the shallow DOF a lot though. 7

to me the most striking feature of this photo is that so much of it is out of focus, and for that it does not appeal to me even though I can find no technical shortcomings

I suppose i would try a slightly different viewpoint here, so that the snake's head isn't right in fron of its body. Also the color of the guy's face is somewhat unnatural.

I would like to see more DOF

I am not a big of snakes, but that one has great colors and cool patterns. Interesting DOF.

it works quite well, even though I'd like to the back marks in focus too.

Fantastic DOF. I think you captured this one perfectly. No recommendations for improvement.

Very nice focus! The composition is excellent. The background is a bit distracting but definitely helps keep the picture on topic. This would make a nice picture with a monotone background too. Good luck!

Condro?, or emerald? - I always have a hard time with that. The fact that it's on a hook makes me think emerald . The DOF is too shallow for my tastes. I would have like to have seen the snake hanging more vertical.

nice snake capture, but there is no feeling capture

Good idea. Too little dof. Would like to see a little more of the snake in focus. Composition interesting, not quite sure it works.

If you had him wrapped around your neck, I would have given you a 10! LOL

I see this as workihng better with a horizontal cropping: eliminate the human mouth, in other words. It would be just a bit undersquare then, and our focus would go more easily where it wants to settle in; on the snake's face.

Very cool shotm well focused, and great composition. A darker background would have been nice though.

snake head needed to be a little crisper - nice composition tho
12/22/2004 07:20:40 AM
would have been cooler without tge face in the background

Love the snake, wish it was more in focus

great picture, it's a shame a lot of people are going to score the classic dog, cat, pet pics higher cause of the 'cuddling factor'.
