Lots of pressure on me for this challenge since I'm known for my pet portraits, but I welcome it because it just means there are going to be a ton of glorious images to vote on.
I'm told I have a somewhat recognizable pet-portrait style, which isn't necessarily the best pet-portrait style, because seriously, how can you go wrong with pets. Hope you enjoy this one.
I wanted a "different" pet than the usual dogs and cats, so I did two different shoots for this, you know, just to hedge my bets. And as a result, I had an embarrassment of riches to choose from. I kept switching them out, and changing my mind.
This handsome young man is Ace (who was also the subject of one of my earliest pet portraits) with Cashew, his pet bearded dragon. The first portrait of him also had a bearded dragon called Rope. Pet naming seems to be a dark art for this family...
Fast forward all these years, and Meredith again volunteered her gorgeous son, now all grown up, who just graduated from high school; this shoot was literally the morning after his prom.
I arrived early and decided to do some shots with Meredith, who is absolutely stunning. And the photos of her with Cashew were stellar, and a bit more humorous, so I initially went with that.
But there is a quiet gentleness about this that I also found very alluring, and these friends are exchanging a moment.
Plus rollover finally happened and kept me from changing my mind again.

Not at all fond that you cut his wrist off right there, though.
For that reason I didn't think this one was yours. :)

ok .. looking through this challenge and i come on this ..
BLUE BLUE BLUE .. my nephew has a bearded dragon .. which i think this is .. and until he got it i thought reptiles couldnt really be a snuggly cuddly pet .. i was wrong .. his is named saturn and its a girl ..
anyway .. this is the most awesome pic .. congrats in advance . i havent seen anything that comes anywhere near it .. :)

oh ps .. not sure who is the beauty and who is the beast .. i think they are interchangeable .. lol .. ;) |
