"Although this is a lovely photo of a chess set, I donít really see the painting with light aspect; it appears to me that he board is lit underneath."

Nope - chessboard is sitting flat on black poster board. :-) Good idea though, I'll tuck that away for future consideration.

this is such eye candy ... everything works .. and what a talent you have ..
ive never tried painting with light .. but you have created something so good ..
also .. how refreshing to have someone give you such a low vote and actually tell you why .. even if you and i .. and i feel many others .. wouldnt share his opinion ..

I like it very much, it is "clean" enough for my taste, was one of my top votes

Thanks. While I appreciate the comment, honestly, I wouldn't change a thing with this photo. I really liked the color, tone, and feel of it. It was actually intentional. :-)

It could potentially look cleaner if you had desaturated the reds and yellows a bit, removing the yellow color cast from the white pieces. Then the white hightligs would blend in better on the whiter white pieces. Desaturating the green sider could also make the glass look "glassier".

Gorgeous how both the matt and shiny chess pieces are shown here, plus the spotlight on the middle pawn.
