 I am not sure how familiar this work will be to others. It hangs here in the Art Institute of Chicago, and I have visited it many times.

The Old Guitarist was painted in 1903, just after the suicide death of Picasso's close friend, Casagemas. During this time, the artist was sympathetic to the plight of the downtrodden and painted many canvases depicting the miseries of the poor, the ill, and those cast out of society. He too knew what it was like to be impoverished, having been nearly penniless during all of 1902.

Love it. Maybe his right hand could have been a bit more awkwardly positioned, but otherwise great attention to detail in the pose. And I love the bit of bare shoulder - had to go back to look and see why that :) IMO there were quite a number of excellent entries, but for my 10's I decided to go with those that looked as if they were done without the use of "painterly" software, and this fit the bill.
