I found this broom under the shed at my Mom's. I took it out and shot it against the neighbor's wooden plank fence. It look OK but it was too much neutral. I through it back under the shed and said, hmmm...so I shot it where it fell.
Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness & contrast, hue/saturation. USM. Crop. Cloned away several bright white spots around the broom on the cement and burnt one small stone. All in PSElements 2.0. Re opened in PSP8 and clarified. Re opened in PSE2.0 and reset the white balance. Didn't like it. Cloned a few more bright white spots away. Rotate to vertical, saved, resized, USM.

Textures and fine detail jump off the screen. Simple subject shows its age and link to technology is easily compared to modern cleaning devices. Personally disinterested in a broom, but this is well presented and worthy of high marks. Bumping up.
Good picture of a broom, worn and tired looking, which fits this challenge. I cant see the shed though. In a challenge which age in an obvious options perhaps a more atmospheric name is helpfull here., - A cause well served, or A fall too far. etc (just a thought)
