Thank you to everyone that took the time to vote and comment. I’m happy this did well, I haven’t really been taking pictures much in the last couple of years but slowly starting to get out there again now that things are settling down for me in general.

This boat made an appearance in a FS in 2015 and has since broken its ties it had and slowly made its way in closer to shore over the years. Anita asked about the title (and so did a few other people on some of the other sites I’ve uploaded this shot to) and that’s why I named it “Purgatory”. This poor speedboat has been here for well over 4 years, stuck between the exciting life it surely once had and speedboat heaven.

Here’s the FS shot:

I also wanted to include this outtake shot the morning before. I really like how this one turned out as well but know it’s a very familiar scene for me and wanted to enter something totally different. The water was decently calm this morning but there had been an influx of portuguese man of war (also called blue bottles in other parts of the world) which are jellyfish with long strings of stingers. Walking around in the water before sunrise while it was still decently dark rewarded me with a bunch man of war stings. Ugh.

Thanks again everyone.

Excellent photograph. I have always avoided doing long exposures with boats due to the boat movement but you have nailed this. Congrats!

Not sure I get the title but maybe it’s the way you’re feeling, nice minimalist image. Already voted.

Not sure about the smooth water... It feels like texture would have been more interesting?

I saw this as a thumb on my phone looking at all the photos in this challenge ..
this jumped right out at me for the gorgeous colours and the title .. which I thought was a joke .. considering the beauty of the scene ..
so I opened it up .. absolutely stunning image ..
and the title .. perfect ..
I would imagine purgatory could feel like a sinking into the depths .. altho my beliefs don't include purgatory etc when we die ..
I feel the reality is .. heaven hell and purgatory are all here .. we don't have to die to experience them ..
I haven't seen your competition yet but this is so beautiful it must ribbon .. :)
