Thank you all for the wonderful comments and the favorites, that makes entering worth the effort.

This is my beautiful niece and is a joy to photograph. In regards to a few comments about her skin, it is very smooth, especially with the makeup she has on. I I did very little to the skin, mostly played with lighting. I wish I had used something different for the floor as that rug was a bit too bright. It just so happened that was where the light was falling and the brightest.

Looking at it more... I wonder if you cropped it on the bottom up to get rid of just the tip of her right elbow (to not make her left arm cropped off awkwardly) and then took some off of the top to balance it... would that be even better?! (especially for Low Key)

The lighting is perfect... your model did a great job... and your editing... well done all 'round!

(I agree that you could have removed the rug and it would have been better, but in the end... it didn't matter at all! )

Mary Ann you have really excelled yourself with this image,it's right up there with one of your best. Your niece is such a great model. She seems to do well for you quite often :-)

This is not only my favorite photo in this challenge, it’s one of my favorite low key portraits I’ve ever seen. It had to get first place! As I mentioned, it will be my bar in my future attempts to capture an artistic low key image. I think her soft skin makes it even more stunning, and if you blow the image up, you can tell it’s very natural and unedited. Congratulations on a ton of levels!

A contender for me - like the pose, the contemplative expression, the setting, the hat. For me there's not quite enough contrast but also, and more importantly, she is so smooth she looks like a mannequin and I want a real person. Voted days ago . . . back to comment on a few.
