I agree with Wendy... and I tried to convey that in my comment... without saying it right out, since some entrants don't want it "straight up" in the comments. :D
It's a fabulous shot and that should be proven by the high score on what some thought was a DNMC.
It's beautiful, as usual from you, Sandy!

Such a beautiful dog portrait, you are a master at this. I think the back lighting took it out of low key, but still a stunning image. I would like to know your lighting system. I generally use only natural light because I really don̢۪t have a handle on using strobes. |

I agree with Anita, you are one of the best animal photographers on this site, and this photo displays your remarkable talent once again! Good job Sandy!

This is truly a very good low Key shot the lighting is perfect to the subject, and I think it is the best in show. 9 |

One of my two favorites for the challenge - everything is just right here for me (color, focus, lighting, expression). Voted days ago . . . back to comment on a few. |

What a perfect portrait (and title... ha!)
I'm not fond of the border for this challenge topic since it brings more light into the image, but golly! What a beautiful pet portrait! |

I'm confused on this one. I hate to say it, but it's not my definition of low key.
It's hard to say it, because this is so incredibly beautifully done.
So I looked up 6-7 other places for low key definition. Mostly dark, heavy shadows, moody, dramatic.
I guess to me it would have been more low key if you hadn't lit him so completely. If the shadows would have been left to fall into dark.
And yet I hesitate to vote on this, because I could be wrong.
It should be a 9 for beauty, but it's a 6 for low key. (I should have just voted without leaving a comment, I think!) |
