Thanks for the helpful comments. No I didn’t darken the left side of the face through editing, but I did have lighting on the right side. The original is not much different, just a little bit of dodge and burn, and cloning on face and forehead which I probably messed up.

Wow, I thought this would place higher, as it does represent low key and is a nice portrait. The face is a bit soft and eye not as sharp, which I am assuming was due to the angle of his head considering the lens you used ( I have the same problem with this lens). Still, nice portrait.

I thought this image was great. I expected to see it in the top few. It’s very dramatic and edgy, but elegant at the same time!

Too much light on the right, if he had a lighter in his hand as the single light source it would have been better

I love the mystery of this... but I kinda want just a peek at his right eye to make me even happier.

I'm probably wrong, though. I usually am. :D

This works for me. I like that the bright side of the face isn't over exposed. The dark side of the face looks a little contrived on how dark it is. The curvy line on the forehead looks artificial, shadow-wise. Did you darken these? Or am I just not understanding the lighting? -7-
