Sorry for winning another ribbon, thank you for the lovely comments.

Can’t remember if this gentleman‘s name was Al, I just thought it sounded good. But anyways I met him in the city, I thought he looked a lot friendlier than the gentleman that I went up to before hand who in his loudest voice told me to F*** off. I think he thought I wanted his cigarettes, I don’t even smoke. I’m pretty sure he was homeless and he was hogging those cigarettes like they were his best friends. Anyway I’ve never been yelled out in the city before so I was kind put off. Afterwards I walked around a little bit dazed and confused, I mean if he knew me, he’d find out I was a really nice person ha ha . So after I got over the initial shock of being sworn at I went back near the train station where I came across this other gentleman. I knew by his eyes that he was a lot kinder. I asked him if I could take a photo of him for a competition, and he ever so kindly said to me “where do you want me to stand”? I’ll have to go back to the city and find him and show him the winning picture.

I love your story, Anita!

I'm not comfortable at all asking strangers to let me photograph them.

I'd have run off crying.

Well done!

Nice job! Especially after that dehumanizing experience with the first guy! I’ve never had that happen in all the time I’ve befriended and photographed people on the street. I’ve only encountered kind people who were grateful for someone seeing them and being interested in spending a little time with them. I think it might keep me from wanting to do it ever again if I had that experience. Glad you got a good payoff for trying again!

Such character! I love your vintage processing in the sepia tones. It's perfect for this portrait.
