The door kept falling off of our mailbox, probably because some teenage boys up the road from us thought it was fun to smash mailboxes with baseball bats as they drove by late at night. He spiffed it up (added a wooden door with a bird sized hole for an entryway and a perch. It's actually a duplex with nest sites at both ends. He was rewarded when at least two pairs of house finches scoped it out and raised babies in it last summer. It is cold and lonely now, but will hopefully provide shelter for more avian friends come summer again.

I'm not a fan of the processing, but there's a great sense of the sunny, cold, windy day, and maybe the processing has contributed to that. I do like the colors, and your background story gives warmth to the image.

I like how the snow on the limbs have a flamed effect as of white fiery flames.

I like the chalk filter effect on this. Interesting story too.. a mailbox birdhouse is definitely unique. You'll have to keep us updated!

You captured the windy and cold part very well. Let's hope for a new pair of birds the coming summer

How very awesome to re-purpose a mailbox into a birdhouse. The creativity of it is cool.

i'm loving your story Patsy .. and how the letterbox became a home to your little feathered friends .. and not just an ordinary home but a duplex .. !! .. talk about living the high life .. !! ..
i rather like the chalk filter .. has it intensified the windy look .. :)
