Avalanche is sound asleep on his new bed. Well, almost... I don't know why he is choosing to sleep with his head on the hardwood floor, and only part of his body on the bed. He is a Rez dog rescue. My daughter worked on a reservation and found him as a very small puppy abandoned outside her office door. He was hungry and covered with fleas and ticks. She fed him, cleaned him up and brought him home to me as a birthday present (after making some inquiries throughout the village to see if he was lost rather than abandoned. He wasn't.) I was still mourning the loss of my beautiful Chaco, but he and I have forged a strong bond. He is my confidant, my protector, and my friend, and if he wants to sleep with his head on the floor instead of his fancy memory foam bed, he is allowed.

I guess dogs are people too and need their memory beds ;)

An endearing portrait. It's an interesting composition, somewhat dizzying with the downward perspective, Avalanche's position, the thrown shadows and the assortment of lines. There's a softness here that brings out a dreamy feel, perhaps in keeping with his slumber. So much more than simple. Strong image.

That's a riot, LOL. He's probably a little warm and keeping his head on the floor is his way of cooling off. Or, maybe he doesn't like the smell of the fancy memory foam bed or the way it feels. It's hard to say but he looks quite comfortable so I wouldn't worry about it. Cute capture!

Ahhhh, I love him, his name and I love his story. Isn't it funny how we buy everything to make them as comfortable as we think they should be but then they show us a completely different way. Animals are amazing.

avalanche .. what a brilliant name for a dog .. bit of a mouthful when you are calling him .. but maybe he has a nickname .. all my dogs get nicknames .. not one but many .. so its possible that i have confused their lives .. !! ..
and what a lovely daughter you have .. i'm sure she wouldnt have given you avalanche if she had known you didnt want another dog .. when still grieving the loss of Chaco ..
dogs .. they are the best creatures ever .. and very much a product of their environments .. avalanche is a very lucky pup .. and i'm so happy that you have such a great relationship .. sounds wonderful ..
i like looking at this pic btw .. he looks so incredibly comfortable .. even if he's not taking full advantage of his lovely new bed .. :)

Wish my dog could keep his bed without chewing it every time we go out for more than 3hours, I think we̢۪ve tried them all and nothing resists. Avalanche is one lucky pup.
