this was taken on my daughter's olympus E-P5 .. after my omd em1 died .. the E-P5 is similar but different to the omd em1 .. one difference is it doesnt have a viewfinder .. only the lcd screen ..
i was at her place mucking around with my omd em1 and using the flash ..
without the flash i'd have to up the iso heaps to get her 'properly' exposed .. even tho it was fully daylight .. as the light was behind her .. and i didnt want to totally overexpose the background ...
took a few pics of Molly .. and then pressed shutter and it was like it was on crazy fast burst and totally over exposed ..
i turned off the camera and turned it on again .. but nothing worked .. there was a tiny flashing light on the front .. but it wouldnt take pics and wouldnt show any that i had taken on playback .. interestingly enough when i got home it did download to the computer ... weird ..
anyway .. the experimenting was in using a camera i was unfamiliar with .. and not using a viewfinder .. molly was moving a lot .. so it was quite challenging getting her in focus and in the shot .. composition on the original shows that .. !! .. ;)
this is the original unedited ..
update:
i phoned Olympus ..
have to take the camera in .. it could be dead .. !! .. they said if it is they would give me a special deal on the omd em1 mkII .. this might work out in my favour .. !! .. ;)
This fine portrait, with Molly's amazing eyes tight to the top, is powerful in its intensity. I feel that she's trying to hypnotize me. Yes, your worship, tuna and mice, right away. Whoo, got to shake out of her dominion. I love the detail. My favorite touch is the sparkle along the edge of her tongue.
I took this down to 50% so I could see it better on my rectangular Screen. It's a really nice closeup with her licking her chops. Facial detail is clear but soft with beautiful eyes. Excellent capture.
Well done use of backup equipment! At least on my screen it is way sharper/in focus than any cat photos I've been able to get (look at the detail in the irises). I like your crop and that tip of the tongue is like a ribbon/bow on the package.
