COMPOSITION
Great choice of subject matter. I really like the flow of the diagonal lines, and how they set up contrasts by going in different directions. The brightness of the top steps really grabs the viewer's eyes, so it may have been more effective to have less of them and more of the bottom steps, then the eyes would travel through the picture more easily.

TECHNIQUE
The focus is good, and the lighting overall establishes some nice tonal contrast. I think the upper part is a bit bright, but it would be difficult to tone that down without losing some in the lower sections. You have captured the textures of the steps very well.

OVERALL EFFECT
I love the optical illusion of this one. It is confounding enough to make you look at it for a few seconds more, then it just pops out at you. It looks so 2-dimensional, and 3-dimensional, at the same time. Overall, very nicely done.

Very nice interplay of light, shade and depth. Nice composition. Perhaps the brightness of the top part could have been subdued...( may be by cropping more onthe top left corner?)

I really like this one. Tough to expose the dark stairs well without overdoing the top/well-lit stairs. Nicely done.

Good perspective on the three levels--well exposed --good focus and well composed

Good shot. Tectures and shading work well. Maybe if the focus had been on the lower level, the top level would have been softened - the brightenss in the top level carries it.

That's really neat! Like an optical illusion. The light on the top set of stairs is a little harsh, but overall I really like it.

I think this is a winner this week, everything about it is perfect (the colours, tonal range, focus, composition). Might've been a good enterence for the current Rythm challenge. A 10!

Good perspective, challenge well met. Focus is sharp, nice shadows for contrast. Interest/appeal - medium to low (sorry). 7 Swash

Reminds me of an MC Escher illustration

i like this - although it is steps and stairs .. it's very abstract ... and you have captured the texture in each type of step - great job!

very nice abstract :) I really like your idea here... the lines and shapes become the subject of the photo, along with the contrasts... great shot :) - setzler

Very original photo for this challenge. Crisp focus and DOF. 8

really really nice abstract. great grain of worn paint. you own at least one good eye, and i bet the other one's not too shabby either. could see this in a gallery easy.
borders don't really do anything for me, but everybody else is using them,
so after this week you won't hear any more moaning about it. go for what you know.

I keep looking at this one and coming back to it. I like it a lot. It seems like if you would just move a hair to the left that the steps would have even more impact. I wonder if you tried that? Great shot.

I really like this one. Great eye to see this. Very well cropped.

great shot!

Good job, but the white it harsh. Maybe if you'd of made this b&w it would look better. Just not enough contrast.

very interestin gangle. Good eye. I never would have seen that. Good luck. Jacko.
