Love this photo! Good choice in putting it in front of the blinds.

Thanks for your great comments and your votes. I was trying all that week to get a good b/w photo, but couldn't get what I wanted. When I when grocery shopping I saw these flowers. The flowers were red and yellow stripes. I put it in the front of the window with the sun shine in. After probably 50 shots, I got the one above.

Congratulations on your 9th placing. When I saw this i had the feeling it was going to the top. Think about it. Out of over 600 entries it surfaces above and into the top 10. Outstanding effort.

A very attractive b/w with impressive shadows and great spatial feel. Bumping up.

I really love all the lines in this shot. Very nice vase and flower. The shadows and light play very nicely.

There are great light and dark element here. I think the flower competes too hard for attention with the blinds though. 6

The background takes away from this for me. It is too busy for the photograph.

I really do like the composition and the concept. The only thing that distracts me is the line running down the blinds. I know that's normal, but it draws my eye away from the flower.

Wow--- Great shot. Very ineteresting background and a great study. Great tonal range on the flower and what an interesting vase. This shot is realy great. The only thing that breaks it up is where you can see through the blinds. When editing this for a print (of which it would make a great one) I would clone across those blinds. Lastly, I would make a rotation so that the horizontals are parallel to the frame itself. Very well done 9

I love the flower and vase and blinds and shadow. I wonder if it would have improved it with a tight crop isolating the other parts of the window and blind. Hope you don't mind but I find the lines from them a little distracting. Good luck

I'm a sucker for textures!! loved the ambiance of this one.. although the outside texturees that can be seen in the bottom part of the shades is a bit distracting for me, the reflection off the vase though is awesome

this is a fine example of how to work the b/w medium.. and i think this is headed for a ribbon.

Nice composition. I hate to be picky, but the single dark slat is distracting
