I actually gasped when I saw this for the first time.. An amazing, beautiful and fabulously dynamic image. Many, many congrats on your Blue, Carrie.

Amazing shot. All the times I've been up north, I've never seen whales breach like this.

Sweet capture, congrats on the Blue!

Having also tried to get humpbacks in mid-leap here on the Pacific, I know exactly how difficult this shot was, and how beautifully it was executed.

Congratulations on the shot of a lifetime.

because I couldn't resist, here's mine, from 2005. The thrill was the same, the score was (er) different. :)

For the user who commented "hope this is legit", lol, I do have other shots from the breach sequence:

Catching whale breaches is a huge challenge, and I've been whale-watching for 12 years. They don't do it all that often, sometimes they only do it once, and it happens really fast. They also don't always come all the way out of the water, you're not always on the right side of them for the best lighting, the water is not always glassy smooth, the background is sometimes not good, you're in a moving boat, etc. etc. My point is that I can't believe this photo (and experience) happened. :^)

Shot of a lifetime. Considering how rare and tough a shot like this is, I hope this is legit.

OMG indeed. That would be the thrill of a lifetime for me to see, let alone capture.
