|Honoring the late Peter Venter (docpjv) words, "We have a story to tell. We have things unique to share. We are the visual historians through passion and art.", I have 2 stories to share in this picture.
With the new editing rules, I could have edited out the artist name, Erica Group, but I choose not too because she absolutely deserves credit for her hard work and her story as an Artist and Interior Designer. In 2015, Erica first drew a large set of angel wings in chalk on the side of the West Volusia Beacon newspaper building to use it as a backdrop for a model shoot. With word of mouth and social media, Group's Angel Wings grew in popularity such that she eventually was asked to make it a permanent fixture. #DeLandWings is a popular hashtag on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
Erica Group's Angel Wings that is enjoyed by many that know about it, set the stage (so to speak) to present a story important to me; as well as all those Mothers and Fathers who are preparing with the feelings & emotions as their child enters the next life stage. In this recent trip to DeLand, Florida to take my Eldest to Music Camp, I am coming to grips with this coming school year being her last year in High School. She really is 'waiting in the wings'. As senior year approaches my eldest daughter is getting ready to spread her wings and take flight towards the horizon of college. Later this summer, we are starting the college tours and of course she will be prepping for those college essays and getting a college resume together (yeah, a college resume; not something I or my husband ever had to do or think of putting together many, many, many moons ago when we first attended college). From our eldest daughter's perspective, she is getting ready to take flight. From our perspective, there is a mixture of pride, a bit of sadness, and oh my the time is flying by as she as gets ready to leave the nest. Time together grows even more precious. My thanks to my Eldest for allowing me to take this photograph and thank you to Erica Group for inviting/allowing people of all walks of life to enjoy your work of art.
