This is kind of a late response, but the subject is of a glass stem from a sort of a bowl vase.

I really like this picture. Is it glass? It's such a unique way of looking at it AND a great picture. Great lighting and tones. The b&w is great. Even the frame is good. It's very artsy and would look good framed in someone's loft. I'm actually impressed that it did so well with this crowd considering that so many of them are just average folks who like pictures of sunsets and kittens more than anything abstract. I'm sorry that I don't really have more to suggest. I'd actually like to see the white squares a little less bright so that they don't jump out so much. I also don't really think that THE subject is square, but there are squares in the shot. I'm really impressed with this picture and glad that it got a decent score.

Nice volumes and lighting, composition a little static, could be less centered. 8

What is the square reflected in? A lamp? Can't quite figure it out. Like the tone of the photo. Good choice. Brings your eyes more to the squares. Well done.

I like the general composition here, and the square catch light is really effective. For some reason, I find myself wanting to turn it upside down.

Wonderful image. Great symmetry, however, I would have preferred to see it in colour.

I hope this is doing better than I'm afraid it is (if that makes any sense). I esp. like the lighitng on your background. Very fine.

What is the subject of this photo. I like the contrast of light and dark.

Composition: Good
Technical: Maybe slightly too dark at bottom? Would have made border corners square too, rather than chamfered. (Rectangle with Stroke in PS?)
Meets challenge: Yes, and very nice too
Overall impression: Really nice pic, lighting lets it down slightly, for me. 8

Wow - what is this - water dropping? Good choice of subject and composition! I tried looking at this upside down, and think it's an interesting shaped bottle now.

Really nice. I like the idea of reflecting the squares in circles. I'm also a big fan of nicely done black and white photos.

Overall I liked this picture. I think that you made good use of shape and contrast. The lighting is also pleasing. The composition looks a little too contrived for me, but I think it is very difficult to get around this. Maybe if you took the picture from a different angle it would work better for me. I also would do without the border if it were my picture. I like your use of black and white on this one and think it is a strong entry.

Just my two cents,

Greg
