 I know this has been done loads of times, but I had to try. Hopefully it is different enough to appeal.
Collected some stones and painted them with watercolour paints. This was more difficult than I expected as the watercolours were too thin.
I then set them up on a black background and placed glass over them and tried creating the water drops. Unfortunately I discouvered that the water wouldnt pearl on the glass no matter how I handled it. I tried car wax, silicon warerproofing spray. it always flowed together. Then I found an old piece of clear perspex & it worked. I set this up above the stones, and set my camera above that.
Light was from left and right from two energy save lamps and manual focus on the water drops.
Would set the self timer, and then use a dropper to arrange the water on the perspex before the camera went off.
Post processing was.
levels, usm and loads of cloning as the perspex was pretty scratched. Otherwise the image is pretty much as it came from the camera.

One of the things that made another version of this work so well was the inclusion of drops that had not been distorted. It really made the picture. I do like the abstractness of this but some of the reflections have just gotten too large and out of proportion to the smaller drops. The reflections in the larkge drops are too blurry and only slightly so in the smaller. The focus is nice and sharp on the edge of the all the drops. I guess you were going for something different. I like the attempt and the colors.

The colour makes this photo. Nice abstract. Some of the edges look a bit over shapened in contrast to the overly smooth surface of the drops. But very nice to look at.

This is a neat effect and I like the colors you chose. My only pick is that the edges of the water seem way too hard or sharp.
