Youngest Son and I caught a frog in the pool last night! He was HUGE!!

He sat still for the Humpty Dumpty image I'd set up but... I didn't love it.

I really didn't even like it. He just didn't "connect" with me from the image. Something wasn't right.

I let him go... and entered it ... not loving it.

One Day Later:

It really pays to get the right model!!

Yes! This is so much better!

Youngest Son was going back to college tonight... having caught the frog with me last night... . I really think that frog had a bit of an attitude. I mean he sat there... but he NEVER smiled. He was HUGE. I think he thinks too highly of himself.

Anyway... I didn't like the image from yesterday, so I went to the store and bought the spider and some of the other stuff (had the rest, don't know why)... and hoped for another frog in the pool tonight before my catcher/helper left. (Hat from a Barbie's little sister set with Red Riding hood... when my 24-yr-old daughter was seven-ish. The Wolf was wearing the hat. I hot-glued the flowers on tonight in anticipation. The spider was in a $1 set of spider rings for Halloween at Target today. The other stuff was in the dollhouse section of a local store. I already had that. Curds and Whey is crumpled up packing material. The spoon I've used several times before in challenges.)

I can't catch frogs by myself. (Toads, I can.) It takes the long skimmer pole for the pool... and when the frog's lifted on it, he jumps off before a single catcher can get to the other long end of it. So, one needs to lift him on the flat skimmer and the other (always me) needs to take him off of it before he jumps away back into the pool. They never seem to mind. Weirdest thing ever.

Anyway... (sorry to digress)... I don't think I've EVER seen a frog in the pool two nights in a row. So, I really thought I was setting up a different scene for nothing. But, there he/she was! And Youngest Son was still here. He's always so good to help me catch them... but never handles them.

So... I had him/her... but really hadn't set up anything except the scene. Holding Frog in my left hand... I moved the tripod into place... attached the wired remote, gave direction to Youngest Son to "get that"... and "put it there"... "get the light that's in the dining room and put it there"... get... get... put... put... Adjusted the camera settings from an outdoors shoot... It pays to learn your camera so you can do it one-handed whilst holding a frog... Just sayin'...

Finally, I set him down. (the frog, not the son) putting his/her hands on the bowl that I'd hot-glued down earler. Put the hat on him/her... And shot. The spoon wasn't glued down (I'd glued it into a bad location and put it here, and he/she didn't drop it!).

This was definitely a different frog from last night. Much smaller and much more amiable. Just LOOK at that smile! I think he/she enjoyed it very much.

No pee on my poster board! Last night's model peed everywhere. Tonight's model was also SO MUCH SEXIER! Just LOOK!

What a great model!

Good times. Only took ten minutes at most from catch to release.

THIS one I love... even if the score sucks.

Life is good, huh!?!

In a hall full of master frotographers, you'll be the supreme overlord.

In a stadium of expert note-writers, you'll be the Shakespeare.

Dainty and elegant, and the perfect little model! My favorite part, however, is the tale that accompanies the magic. :-)

This is just tooo cute; looks like one of Lydia's frogs. I think she cast spells over them to get them to pose for her. If it is not - then take it as a compliment. My top pick.

LMAO!!!!!! How, HOW do you get these guys to do these things??? That is one fat frog/toad/amphibian. Love the tiny cookbook, can of whatever, and the itsiest, bitsiest spoon. I might have cropped a bit off the sides; negative space seems a tad excessive. However, this is likely the winner :)
