It took me much longer than I'd like to admit to realize that to get the 160 side... I had to place the subject far to the left or right in my frame, or I'd not have room to make a rule of thirds(ish) image. I'd been shooting with the subject in the center... or just off center... and then none of the crops looked good.

I'm pretty slow to learn sometimes. I ended up working on it all week... and entering 3.5 hours before rollover.

Anyway... I wasn't fond of the challenge topic, but in the end, I learned something... so I'm happy. :D

I can't wait to see what everyone else came up with for this odd crop! Should be a fun challenge to peruse. :D

Nice detail for this much of a crop.

Nicely done with pretty good detail and a fine blurred background.

Nicely shot and composed. The subject stands out well and the background colors complement the dragonfly's. Compositionally, I think it might work better flipped horizontally. Here, my eye stops at the subject and everything to the right is kind of wasted space; with it flipped, my eye would travel naturally across the image to the dragonfly, and the green space would serve as a pathway to the subject.

Commenting only, voting already done :-)

I like the image, but I am bothered by the fact that fully half of it is empty space, contributing little to interest me. Now, if you had a BEE hovering over there :-) Also, on my monitor it's a little washed out on the twig, in general I think it would be stronger if it were about one zone darker/richer.
