Wow! A new personal best after so long. - and with the same camera! - and with a budget lens! I need to turn the clock back 4 years and proceed from there lol!
Anyway, thanks for all the wonderful comments - When I read SandyP's during voting I took another look at the picture and felt an extra little tug at the heartstrings.

I can't see why this shouldn't be on the cover of a coffee table book of great photographs - almost brings tears to my eyes just looking at it. Congrats.
Not surprised this took the blue because it is top notch work worthy of the award. Love the affectionate social interaction between the macaques. The lovingly held baby reaching out to cup the others monkey's face is such a tender moment. Congrats on such a capture and the blue.
Of COURSE this won! This is my favorite monkey (sorry to generalize in calling them monkeys) photo EVER! I couldn't see how anyone could give it lower than a 9 or 10. Congratulations on such a well-deserved win!
(commenting only) Absolutely love this shot ! love the body language, especially the strong eye contact between mother and youngest child, you can tell quite clearly who mum dad and the two kids are ! A shot like this makes you realise were not the only animals on this planet capable of complex emotions
Ohmygosh... stop it! You're hurting me! Sheeeesh! I just "awarded" someone my opinion for the blue ribbon, but now I have to take it back -- because this one reeeealllly should have the blue ribbon! Wow! I'm not voting in this challenge (I never vote on challenges I've entered), but I'd vote this one a 12!
