Bought a wrist band with spikes on it, took the spikes out, stuck them onto the apple. Side lit using a desklamp and a white piece of paper.

Another awsome shot produced by the Thamer himself. Nice job.
Only question: White piece of paper?

I've heard of cactus pears, but this is something new. That would make one dangerous pie! Good sharpness and DOF. I like the contrasting apple green and purple tones, though I wish there had been a little more light on the right side- it's really dark over there. Bumping to a 9 for the creative simplicity.

Definitely a food you don't see everyday. Great idea. Love the contrast between the blue of the background and yellow of the apple.

hmm difficult... while the challenge says you can create your own culinary delight, to me the creation should be edible since it is food.. metal spikes not being edible leaves me feeling that the challenge was not well met... while creatively it is a good idea... I really like the angle and amount of light... it really works well... a red background might work better than the blue as red/green are contrasting colors... overall (7) bumping this to a 9 (my 2nd place) since there are sooooo many terrible photos this week... good luck!

Cute idea but also well executed. The composition and lighting are both great.

Excellent choice of background color that has been lacking in a lot of challenges this time arround. I should give you 12 for punching this point home. Great focus, shadow play and creation. Gives a whole new meaning to "...taking a bite of the forbiden apple". Good submission. Thanks.

This made me smile. Your cropping is a little tight on the right and there may be some motion blur. The shot isn't bad, it just may need a different crop or some fill light on the right. - 6

Cool colors! Maybe a tad less shadow on the apple.

Oooh another apple... I can feel the tension here :) I think the concept would have been more dramatic if the spikes were all over the surface... but I still scored it higher than most I've seen!

funny concept, good idea, and a reasonable attractive image as well. Nothing really wrong, but no wow factor for me.
