Thank you everyone for all the great votes and comments.

I knew this shot has been down many times before, (try googling images for "Vatican Museam Staircase and you'll thousands of images that look exactly like mine) but I enjoyed this vacation so much that I really wanted to enter something from this trip and not my usual landscape-ish type shot.

On this trip I was able to meet Alessandro, Alexkc, and just by coincidence, fellow Hawaii DPC'er Chalice. Jeff was in the same Meditrranean tour group from Hawaii as we were. I know he's crazy busy but I'm hoping he decides to start being active again on DPC.

I did have many versions of this shot to choose from. I had shots with only 1 person at the bottom of the stairs, shots with a long line of people descending the stairs, and even shots with absolutely no one on the stairs. Annie's comment is exactly the reason I chose the shot with the couple going slowly downward. I really thought it gave scale to this incredible structure, and I also felt it might help some voters to make a personal connection with the shot - possibly leading to a bit higher vote.

Thanks again everyone.

Amazing!!! I'm with you about the scale that the people in this gives it is what makes it so wonderful!! Even tho there may be lots of photos of this, I've never seen one so to me it has that first time seeing it WOW-factor! Breathtaking!

By "challenge" I meant meeting the lofty expectations of this oft-shot setting, and you nailed it with this beautiful processing. Well-deserved top 10.

Extra points from me for the people, they add a sense of scale that makes this even more awesome.
