awesome. ok, it freaks me out a little, but i love it. as with most images, i'd like to see it a little more contrasty; burn the shadows, and dodge the highlights on her face, and it would be one of my favourites for sure. well done.
I guess I am a bit late on the scene. But just wanted to say that in my opinion this is true art. This is wonderful and this image has depth, it has a story and it's excellent work. Congratulations. I wish you up there with a ribbon. No disrespect to the others, but I think this is the best. This is the type of image that fascinates me. Images that make me think and feel something. You have done a great job and I wish you all the best. xion bows to you.
Thanks for all the comments, they really mean a lot to me. This is my personal second best but it really means more to my than my PB because I put much more effort in it and I intended it to have a meaning, not just a pretty picture. It really amazes me how differently voters look at this picture, some like it and some dislike it, I like that.
Very freaky interpretation of the challenge. I like it, one of the great things is it gives the viewer to wide room for their own interpretation - I see it as lack of human touch. It's bizarre and cool, well done
One of my highest scorers for this challenge I gave it a 9, which is good considering I didn't give any 10's this time :) I just love the feel of this image, and the expression on the girl's face is priceless. The toning is very good as is the lighting. Only something about the crop which I can't quite put my finger on stops me from scoring this a 10.
I feel complelled to give this picture an 11. I need a print of this. When I first opened the picture I was a little astonish, but then my mind caught up with my eyes and I was dumbfounded. An easy 10!
What an interesting photo! Your model looks almost evil, or maybe that isn't the right word, but certainly far more serious than your average childs photo. The contrast to the fake smile on the dolls face is stunning, the diagonal lines of the hands draw me in even more, and the tight crop is just right. What a great photo.. I've come back to this about five times now... The range of tones is great, lighting is bang on, the lack of catch lights in the girls eyes enhances the feeling... back again.. :-) changed to a 10
I love the composition and the lighting. The hands holding around the doll gives intimacy to the picture I think. It's like she is saying : I know she is old, but I love her !
This is well done. I would suggest small adjustments in the positioning of the heads (I think they should be parrallel for maximum effect) and an equal crop (perhaps right down the deas center of the noses?) But the idea is fantastic, and the color match/exposure is great. Overall, very nicely done.
Fantastic! The monotone gives a plastic feel, and the blank stare is haunting... and then there's the doll!
My bet for the blue ribbon. Congratulations!
